Our Mission: Completely Satisfied Customers

Lakewood Chevrolet - #1 GM dealer in Canada for Customer Satisfaction - Thanks for your support - more info...

Not long ago it was common to require a front brake job performed on your vehicle somewhere between 30,000 to 50,000 kilometers depending on driving habits. The rear brakes usually last twice as long as the front because the rear only does 20% of the braking.

There are many different kinds of materials used in the manufacturing of brake pads. The pad material was originally considered organic, they stopped your vehicle well and were quiet operating in normal conditions, but not very durable. It was perfectly normal to replace multiple sets of pads without the rotors needing resurfacing or replacing because the pad material was so soft.

The progression of brake technology brought the use of semi-metallic and metallic pads. These increased the pad life of your brakes substantially but could cause squeaking and/or grinding noises in certain conditions. Also because the harder pad material, the rotors would wear needing replacing or machining when performing the brake job.

Today we offer ceramic brake pads for most applications. Originally ceramic pads were only used in high performance applications because of price and availability. These pads are superior in almost every way and with the increase of supply, they have become affordable.

Chevrolet has also increased the longevity of the brake pads by increasing the size of the brakes and the pad material surface wear area. Nowadays, because of overall superior quality in the entire brake system, many Chevrolet vehicles will get 80,000 kilometers or more before needing a front brake job.

At Lakewood Chevrolet we service all makes and models of vehicles and are competitively priced. When a brake job is performed, we want to install brake parts that are OEM (original equipment manufactured) or better. Lower quality pads have been tried in the past with poor results like poor braking, brake petal fade, reduced pad life, excessive noise, and brake dust.

When you have a brake job done, get it done right with the best parts possible. It could save your life.
