We are pleased to announce that Lakewood Chevrolet is now taking orders for the new 2012 Chevrolet Volt. Lakewood Chevrolet's first Chevrolet Volt will be arriving in April of 2012. It’s the electric car that really goes the distance. With extended-range capability, the Volt has a total driving range of about 580 kilometres. For the first 40 to 80 kilometres, the vehicle drives gas-free and produces zero tailpipe-emissions by using electricity stored in the battery. When the battery runs low, an engine-generator seamlessly engages to provide electricity, extending the Volt’s driving range by about 500 kilometres. So as your driving distance expands, so do Volt’s innovative capabilities.

Having already earned the 2011 Motor Trend Car of the Year and the 2011 Green Car of the Year awards, the Volt has taken top honours once again.
The North American Car of the Year is awarded each year by an independent jury of 49 automotive journalists from Canada and the U.S. at the North American International Auto Show. This is the third time Chevrolet has won the award, and our fourth overall win.
“Since development began, we believed the Volt had the potential to transform the automotive industry,” said GM CEO Dan Akerson. “Today, the Volt is the first electric vehicle to win the prestigious North American Car of the Year award, and the first vehicle ever to receive the industry’s highest automotive, technology, and environmental recognitions.”
Can you imagine driving to and from work everyday using not even a single drop of fuel? Can you imagine driving almost 100km on just 1 Liter of Gasoline around the city? It's coming, and soon!

This is the most recent news from GM about the up and coming 2012 Chevrolet Volt. General Motors is striving to have the most fuel-efficient cars on the road today, and they are achieving this. The Chevrolet Volt is expected to set the new standard in green transportation technology, and we are all very excited for it's release.
HOW IT WORKS
General Motors refers to the Volt as an E-REV. (Extended Range Electric Vehicle). The Volt has the capability of reaching 40 - 80km on battery power alone. Rechargeable at home, the idea is that your daily trip to and from work, with an odd errand run here and there, will have you cruising right by Gas Stations for months at a time. When more distance is needed, like for a trip to the lake or perhaps the mountains, the Volt is equipped with a small gasoline engine. This small 1.4L 4cyl engine is not connected to the wheels or used for driving at all. Its sole purpose is to simply charge the battery, while you are driving, to increase the Volt's range exponentially. As much as 1,030 km on only 35 L of fuel to be exact.
Our First Volt will arrive at Lakewood in April 2012. We are now taking factory orders.
